Abstract

Family violence researchers must weigh numerous factors in deciding where to submit their work for publication. The purpose of the present study is to provide a useful guide for family violence researchers to make informed decisions about publishing their manuscripts. Through an extensive computerized literature search, 22 English-language specialty and nonspecialty journals that frequently publish articles on family violence were identified. Editors or editorial staff of these journals were contacted and completed a brief questionnaire about their respective journal. Journals varied widely in types of articles accepted for publication, target audience, circulation rates, number of issues per year, and acceptance rates. Journals generally evidenced high acceptance rates following resubmission. Overall, this study identified numerous journals to serve as outlets for the theoretical and empirical efforts of family violence researchers.
