Abstract

The main exogenous causes, such as carbon monoxide, oxygen pollutants and fuel vapours responsible for states of pilot intoxication are reviewed. Attention is also paid to symptoms that can reveal their existence, and to the most suitable means for preventing them, so as to prevent air accidents with all their tragic cost in terms of loss of human life.
