Abstract

A research literature overview of road traffic crash (RTC) first aid administration by bystanders is provided in this paper. Study context involves increasing average ambulance RTC response time and recognizing early first aid's potential contribution to improving road trauma mortality and morbidity rates. Since first aid administration can be overwhelming and traumatic in these emergency situations, improved strategies are needed to provide support to those who have provided RTC first aid care. Providing bystanders who administer RTC first aid with better post intervention care enables them to repeat emergency first aid administration and encourages basic life support learning and performance by others.
