Abstract

This study revises in retrospective form the monthly reports of Services of the Prehospital Medical Care System and the monthly medical dispatch reports of the Mexican Red Cross of the first of January of 1995 to December 31 of 1997. It stand out that of the total of calling received alone in a 62.42% of the cases the patient was assisted. From the total of assisted patients, 61.29% they corresponded to the masculine sex and 38.7% they to the feminine sex and only moved a hospital the 24.02%. The distribution for age shows that they most of the patients were between the 16 and the 45 years old of age. The crash automotive events prevail with 65.74%, followed by the accidents of the home with 16.63%. The etiologic agent more frequent is the accident with vehicles with 31.46%, followed by falls and violence with 27.74% and 26.07 respectively. It are possible to highlight that of the total of seen patients the 56.67% they were of third priority of attention, 6.29% of second and only 6.29% of first. The corporal area more affected is extremities with 70.49%, followed by cranium and face with 46.3% and later on spine with 20.70%. The present study, without being exhaustive, it is used for to define strategies of training and operation for a prehospital emergency care system in urban area.
