Abstract

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) provides extended functionality in comparison to conventional cruise control. A radar sensor makes it possible to regulate the distance to preceding vehicles automatically. A field operational test with 15 test persons was performed, in which each participant used a prototype test vehicle over a period of four weeks. Different methods were used for data acquisition. Questionnaires and interviews as well as objective data about driver interventions during the ACC usage were analyzed with respect to the duration of the learning phase, amongst other points of interest.
