Abstract

In the 1920s and 1930s cars were rolling off the production lines in record breaking numbers. As chief of plastic surgery at Dertoit's Harper Hospital, Srtaith witnessed first-hand the results of this new era of mobility. He was among the first to acknowledge that accidents didn't kill people -- that was just the event. He insisted that it was the collision between the passengers and the inside of the car that caused the serious and fatal injuries.
