Abstract

For the traffic safety education of the younger generation to cope with such problems as the "bosozoku" or hot-rodders, it is necessary to further improve the traffic safety guidance in addition to the existing guidance for health and safety in the course of school education. At present, however, the education and training for persons in charge of traffic safety failed to come up to the quality and quantity of those in other fields. It is considered urgently necessary to foster traffic specialists and complete the social foundation excepting them if perfection in traffic safety is to be expected. In view of such recognition, we would like to propose the establishment of a "Traffic University," with the same level as a regular university education, which aims at fostering specialized instructors in traffic safety. In this paper, problems with the present social system related to traffic safety education will be discussed, and our tentative scheme for the traffic University including curriculums will be presented.
