Abstract

This study sought to determine the relationship between driving behavior and traffic congestion in selected routes in Cagayan de oro City. This study focused on: (1) Before & after driving behavior of the respondents (2) the factors that affect the driving behavior of drivers and (3) significant relationship between driving behavior and traffic congestion. In answering the problems, the researchers used the descriptive design. The fifty (50) respondents (30 PUJ drivers, 10 taxi drivers, and 10 private vehicle drivers) answered the questionnaire. The data gathered were statistically treated with simple percentage distribution. The over-all analysis data show the highest mean has significant relation between driving behavior during driving to Social followed by mechanical and behavioral factors, while the nonsignificance is the environmental factors. In summary of data show that behavior of drivers really affects the social, mechanical and behavior in traffic congestion in Cagayan de Oro City.
