Abstract

I thank Bachynski for focusing attention on the lack of systematic epidemiological surveillance of youth sports traumatic brain injury (TBI) events, as described in my article. No state's youth sports TBI law explicitly requires the sort of rigorous data collection that has proven helpful in a variety of other public health contexts. However, some states have found mechanisms to facilitate data gathering through innovative use of the delegated regulatory authority found in some youth sports TBI laws. (Am J Public Health.
