Abstract

The efficacy of the 0.8(per mille) - b.a.-concentration limit on the development of alcoholic traffic offences in the F.R.G. was examined by use of uni- and bivariate ARIMA-time series analysis. The results showed that the 0.8(per mille)-law passed in August 1973 was responsible for a 10% decrease in alcohol-caused traffic accidents with personal injury, and a 20% decrease in licence-withdrawal proposals in the State Schleswig-Holstein. Apart from this a surprising increase in police-controls was found following upon the passing of the legislation.
