Abstract

2317 accidents occurring at a curve in the road were investigated with regard to factors such as a dangerously high approaching speed in relation to curve radius, the place of the accident in the curve, the kind of accident process and the number of unhurt, injured and killed persons involved. Besides the fact that, in general, younger persons cause curve accidents at higher speeds more frequently than older persons, there is no doubt that a dangerous fast approaching speed is the typical false judgement made by drivers under the influence of alcohol, and the main cause of curve accidents.
