Abstract

Comparative tests with the help of 'Substrat Meszplatz' (Eppendorf Comp.) and 'Elko Photometer' (Zeiss Comp.) were made to check the usefulness of automatic photometric measuring in the routine determination of alcohol content by the Widmark Gruner method. The results and their statistic evaluation show that the results of the automatic photometric measuring practically have the same measuring accuracy as those found out in the normal way. In the analyses of nearly 20,000 blood tests (some 60,000 single determinations) there were no influences on the results with the origin in the technical supposition of automatic measuring (plastic vials, tube system, needles, micro cuvettes, etc.). The advantages of the automatic measuring described here mainly are the shortage of the measuring time and the possibility of making nearly unlimited checks.
