Abstract

This study is a part of a criminological research concerning 'drugs and delinquency'. Since crime statistics concerning traffic delinquency in connection with drug abuse are not available interviews of drug abusers and case studies are still indispensable; particularly lacking are simple means of detecting drug intake. Here the situation differs fundamentally from the situation with alcohol. Intensive interviews of young drug addicts (fixers) show that young drug users often drive motor vehicles while under the influence of drugs when their faculties are impaired. Typical cases of dangerous situations and behavior are shown. The correlation of traffic offenses and drug use is nearly entirely undetected by police and remains an unknown quantity.
