Abstract

According to the amendment of the German road traffic law the forensic breath alcohol analysis may now be used in Germany. The necessary technical requirements are described in the German standard DIN VDE 0405 and the Drager Alcotest 7110 Evidential fulfils them. The combination of an infrared optical and an electrochemical measuring system significantly improved the analytical specificity compared with the use of two infrared optical wave lengths. In addition, a very sensitive detection of substances in ambient air is possible.
