Abstract

Among the blood alcohol samples during the years 1968 and 1972, in the north eastern region of Switzerland, 2.6% showed values of 3.0% and more. Inspite of this high blood alcohol concentration, the impression of drunkeness existed clinically only in some of the cases. 11 persons who were still able to drive even single railed motor vehicles showed blood alcohol values of 4% and above. This supposes a high alcohol tolerance which is a consequence a widely distributed alcoholism, proved already in younger persons.
