Abstract

Technology is advancing day by day in all sectors of science and it is the same in the case of automobiles too. Even with such development of the technology the automobile thefts and accidents are not decreased but are increasing by the day. Many systems have been designed to prevent the theft and ensure the safety of the automobile. But these fail to cope with the increasing ways of the cause of the accident and provide a complete solution for the owner's woes. This paper presents a novel yet affordable idea, at low cost, which aims to solve the problem at the root cause rather than only providing solutions for the problems and is tested with the help of a prototype. This paper deals with the composite system, comprising of various sensors, is implemented in ARM7 platform which is low cost and also feasible for rapid usage in automobile applications. This system proposed also consists of a SIM900 GSM/GPRS module to call for help in the vicinity of the owner when one meets with an accident. The alcohol content of the person is detected using a gas sensor which helps in preventing the drunk driving accidents. This system is incorporated with a module which detects the presence of an intruder inside the automobile. Keyword: ARM, Anti-theft, Low cost, Composite system, Accelerometer, PIR, GSM/GPRS.
