Abstract

To study road safety of electric bicycles, based on the closed-loop system of driver-vehicle-road, the authors made a comprehensive analysis of the affecting factors for the driving safety of electric bicycles. Through analyzing the main damage mechanism of the electric bicycle users, the speed, vehicle type, road type and road status were determined to be the higher electric bicycle safety weight factors in the closed-loop system of driver-vehicle-road. The program of vehicle traction test was developed with the test security ensured. A multivariate test on the main influential factors was conducted with orthogonal design. Systematic analysis of the insecurity mechanism of electric bicycles on road was made. Based on a large amount of experimental data, a friction coefficient database of overturned electric bicycles in a variety of road conditions was established. The result show that the most significant impact factors on safety of the electric bicycles were velocity, vehicle motion, vehicle type, road type and road condition, and the velocity was the greatest factor on safety.
