Abstract

As the most important financial city in China, Shanghai represents not only the incredible growth of big Chinese cities but also the rapidly changing traffic and transport scenarios of these huge urban agglomerations. Shanghai demonstrates the traffic problems which have emerged, traffic safety being the most important one. The article describes the main deficits in traffic safety in Shanghai and proposes several possible measures for improving the situation, which should be integrated into a traffic management plan.
