Abstract

The management of traffic in local street networks requires that local authorities have not only a process to guide the study but also the necessary 'tools' to undertake the study. The research reported here explores the contribution which quantitative modelling could make in this context. While quantitative models are used extensively for broader scale transport network planning, their application to traffic-calming, or local area traffic management, represents a new frontier in the U.K.
