Abstract

How to determine no passing zones and document the data is explained in a step-by-step procedure used by the New Jersey Department of Transportation. In each method, the design provides for skip lines indicating that a clear line of sight was determined along the roadway, beginning at the driver's eye and extending to the point of minimum design sight distance. All points along that sight line are at or below 3. 75 feet above pavement, except for distances falling below the minimum out-of-sight criteria. A graphical explanation is given.
