Abstract

Directional crossovers were constructed through the median approximately 300 feet from the major crossroad, and some or all of the left-turning traffic was required to use the crossovers. The congestion and delays within the entire intersection were immediately reduced. The crossovers are used to handle all left-turning traffic from major crossroads. The results are increased capacity and safer roadways.
