Abstract

A drinking test was performed in subjects with healthy lungs, with the first breath sample taken after breathing in and out deeply, whereas the second breath sample was taken from the medium breathing level after breathing in deeply. Measured differences are not a result of hypoventilation or hyperventilation but are instead physiological breathing variants, which police officers cannot object to. The deviations between the readings of both breathing variants were up to 0.041 mg/L without an error message being generated.
