Abstract

Damage identification of bridge structures is an important link in bridge structure safety detection. Based on the analysis of the dynamic characteristics of the structure before and after damaging, the change coefficients of the structural vibration mode are deduced from element damages. According to the factorization method of local damages of the structure, indicating factors sensitive to element damages are established to deduce the change of the elemental modal strain energy before and after element damaging. The relation between damaged elements and undamaged elements is studied. Taking the change rates of the element modal strain energy as parameters for judgment of damage locations, the method of bridge structure damage location identification is studied. A PC tied arch bridge is studied as an example. Calculation results and measured results under different damaging situations are analyzed. It is seen that the proposed method is able to identify damage locations accurately and effectively.
