Abstract

The Safe Routes to School program is a federal government initiative that funds local efforts throughout the country to alleviate problems in some locales. One recipient of the program is Huntington Park City, a suburb of Los Angeles. Under the SRT, the suburbs' main priority is the improvement of crosswalks. Officials opted for DuraTherm impressed crosswalk lines. The new decorated crosswalks require very low maintenance and offered some design flexibility.
