Abstract

Throughout world, ship maneuvering simulations are playing more and more important roles in the approaching channel design and traffic risk assessment. It is essential to develop a simulation system to challenge the complexity of traffic environment in the Yangtze River. It is proposed in this paper to establish a platform, where the real-time simulation is based on full mission ship maneuvering simulator (NTPRO 4000), and the fast-time simulation on an independent PC based software developed by the author, which integrates Electronic Chart System (ECS), ship maneuvering mathematical model and 3D visual system and fuzzy control based pilot control model, and named Universal Ship Maneuvering Computer Simulation Platform (USManCSP). The system was tested by a simulation case for studying a severe bend in the Three Gorge of the River.
