Abstract

Driving simulation tests were performed with the aim of exploring the effects of cellular phone use on driver errors and traffic safety. The errors were used as a measure of driver distraction. It was found that the danger of being distracted does not end with the termination of a phone call and that there is no significant difference between using a hands-free or a handheld cellular phone.
