Abstract

Field tests of pavement roughness and sound levels as well as physical analysis of various typical CSRS were carried out. It was found that CSRS pattern is optimal. The difference between milled and rolled CSRS was more than 12 times for the excess of the roughness index and 3 times for the excess of the sound levels. The difference between milled and corrugated CSRS was more than 7 times for the excess of the roughness index and 0.5 times for the sound levels. Results lead to the conclusion that the milled CSRS pattern is a low-cost, high-benefit, feasible measure for reducing the frequency of ROTR crashes.
