Abstract

The rapid change in all fields of activity in Saudi Arabia has resulted in an increase in the number of private cars and commercial vehicles such as buses trucks. With the increased activity in the country's roadways, the number of traffic accidents has also risen dramatically. Several agencies exist that are concerned with various aspects of traffic safety. One such agency is the Ministry of Communications (MOC). Safety issues are addressed by the MOC as early as the first stages of road development, planning, construction and maintenance. The MOC has also developed an integral traffic safety management system that involves interagency cooperation with the security agencies to collect information about traffic accidents to classify and analyze data.
