Abstract

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) has formed a Task Force that would primarily focus on improving the facilities for non-motorized travel modes such as pedestrians and bicyclists. Called the Pedestrian and Bicycle Task Force, its main responsibilities include identifying issues and needs that are not being addressed by existing ITE Councils, determining the mission and goals of the Task Force, and drafting a mission statement for the Task Force. The Task Force is currently focusing on several specific areas such as inadequate funding, regionalism, safety, and professional development.
