Abstract

In Australia, there is a place for small diameter roundabouts as a traffic control device on local streets. The design must be strictly adhered to when used for speed control but can be relaxed in low speed environments where turning control is required. The trial of two mini roundabouts in the same street with central diameters of 4.5 m and 3.5 m has commenced with the collection of traffic data and a resident survey.
