Abstract

A simple, one-degree-of-freedom model to describe the effect of transition curve design parameters on the transient roll motions experienced in the sprung mass of a road or rail car is developed. Analytical expressions for the roll response to a number of roadway inputs are obtained, and quantified for several representative cases.
