Abstract

Mathematical models are presented for the computation of transition curves suitable for speed changes. These models are practical for application by means of computer programs. Application is presented by two different models: (1)The rate of increase of centripetal acceleration is constant; and (2)the rate of increase of the lateral ratio (sideways force) is constant. Speed changes cause differences in transition curves in comparison with the common clothoid.
