Abstract

In this paper, a technical description of the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) is presented in order to consider some of the flying safety factors in commercial aviation, as well as the aspects of interaction between the pilot and the system itself during the flight. Since it has been confirmed in practice that the installation and utilization of GPWS in aircraft significantly reduces the hazards caused by the Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT), further development of GPWS equipment presents one of the most important steps in preventing the ultimate consequences of such aircraft disasters.
