Abstract

The effect of the seat belt mandatory in Denmark was studied for five years around the enactment, based on 3005 casualties. Injury data were compared to traffic activities, to hour of accident and to sex and age of victims. The initial effect vanished the second year after enactment, presumably due to strong influence from law-violating high-risk drivers.
