Abstract

The role of a professional society, should include two critical functions: contributions to scientific progress, and stimulation of society to change apathy to action. Within the North American continent, the American Association for Automotive Medicine seeks to perform both of these functions. On a broader scale the International Association for Accident and Traffic Medicine is dedicated to similar purposes.
