Abstract

The University of Minnesota Safety Car, a 1959 Plymouth sedan has been developed in which there would be no more injury to the passengers upon striking a bridge abutment, or into another car head-on at 40 mph6 than in any other standard car at 20 mph and thus, in the modified Safety car, the 110 deaths nationally each day would be reduced to 1, according to statistical studies.

This paper describes the features of the Safety Car.
