Abstract

Roundabouts have become increasingly popular in the Netherlands since the late 1980s: over a period of only six years, approximately 400 roundabouts have been built. Some important reasons for the interest shown are as follows: A drastic reduction in collisions on roundabouts, Lower driving speeds also improve the crossing facilities offered to pedestrians, Traffic lights are not necessary, and Rapid flow of traffic.
