Abstract

In Ottawa-Carleton, population 625,000, new permanent snow disposal sites are being planned for five communities with a full build-out population of 365,000. Currently, between 3.3 and 13 million cubic feet of snow (1 and 4 million cu m.) are removed annually in the urbanized areas; the average recorded winter snowfall in Ottawa is 89 in. (227.3 cm).
