Abstract

An historic bridge spanning the Juniata River near Altoona, Pennsylvania, stands today as testimony to what can be done when technology developed in the laboratory is brought to the marketplace to provide answers for public works problems. The 60-year-old Corbin Bridge, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was targeted by the Reynolds Metal Co. to be redecked with a recently developed process of using extruded aluminum panels in place of the more commonly used concrete and steel.
