Abstract

The California Department of Public Health reports that 2 persons became ill 10 minutes after eating Nicotiana glauca (tree tobacco), which was mistaken for Lambs Quarter. The illness was characterized by double vision and loss of muscular coordination. One person said her arm felt as if it were "going to sleep". After 3 days there was a marked weakness of the eye muscles and general aches and pains.
