Abstract

Critiques A. Banuazizi and S. Movahedi's assessment of the simulated prison study (C. Haney et al, 1973). Evidence indicates that the passivity, depression, helplessness, and psychological dysfunction displayed by the prisoners was not just a good performance in response to perceived experimental demand.
