Abstract

In this study interviews were used to discover the effect of four variables on police image: race, sex, age, and type of communication with policemen. It was found that white subjects, subjects who reported that their images of police were based on personal contact, and subjects who reported no arrest record had significantly more favorable images of police than did their counterparts.
