Abstract

According to this study:

* Female nursing home residents who fell on impact-absorbing flooring sustained less severe injuries than those who fell on other types of flooring.

* An incidental finding was that increased body mass index (BMI) independently reduced the risk of fall-related injuries, supporting previous research suggesting that the injury-reducing potential of impact-absorbing flooring is most pronounced in people with a low BMI.
