Abstract

In many countries, mental illness and violent attacks are being linked with each other, and now also with acts of terrorism. Psychiatrists and mental-health professionals are increasingly asked to explain the causes of violent radicalisation during clinical assessments, especially in forensic settings. Not only is there an expectation that these professionals give advice as expert witnesses, but also that they should provide advice on preventive work and risk assessment.
