Abstract

Increased enforcement of traffic laws is one of the proposed solutions for the problems associated with aggressive driving. However, this requires a substantial amount of financial as well as manpower investment. As a result, many public agencies have begun to consider the use of automated enforcement in transportation. Several elements have been identified as important in the success of automated enforcement programs. These elements include public education and awareness, involvement of local judiciary and passage of enabling legislation.
