Nerve agents are highly toxic chemicals that poison the nervous system and rapidly disrupt bodily functions that are vital to survival. These substances inhibit the normal neurotransmitter process of acetylcholinesterase breaking down acetylcholine. This leads to violent muscle spasms and death.
