abstract="Recent trends in mortality from suicide in the province of Quebec, Canada, are analyzed. It is noted that mortality from this cause has increased since the early 1960s and that this rise is the highest among all Canadian provinces. A particular increase in suicide among younger people is noted; furthermore, suicide seems to be increasing with each successive generation. The causes of these increases are discussed.
