abstract="The prevalence and characteristics of psychosis were observed in a population of 134 subjects who committed suicide in St. Louis in a 1-year period. Psychosis was diagnosed if a subject had, in the period just prior (1 month or less) to his suicide, experienced any of the following: delusions; hallucinations; bizarre behavior; disorientation, confusion, or memory loss; or formal thought disorder. Using these criteria, 25 (19%) of the 134 subjects were found to be psychotic at the time of suicide.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
