abstract="This paper reviews the main findings concerning a possible relationship between disordered serotonin metabolism and manifestations of human (auto) aggression. Most available work suggests a relationship between diminished 5-HT metabolism and suicidal behavior. Moreover, it seems warranted to hypothesize a relationship between disturbed aggression regulation and diminished central serotonin metabolism. Some major methodological shortcomings in biological suicide research--in particular focused on problems with monoamine studies--are mentioned.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
