abstract="In September 1985 the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Mexico City devastated parts of a city already burdened by complex economic, political, and social problems. Overall, residents of the city demonstrated resilience and strength in dealing with the physical and psychosocial aspects of the disaster. Many in the unaffected areas responded quickly to provide assistance, and most residents continued to function in spite of the trauma. Primarily through case vignettes, the author describes reactions of individuals and families to the quake.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
